2024 mHealth Training Institute Concludes with Major Success, Equipping Future Leaders in Digital Health
The 2024 mHealth Training Institute (mHTI) concluded successfully, marking another milestone in preparing the next generation of leaders in digital health research. Running from April 22 to August 8, 2024, the hybrid program brought together 30 exceptional scholars selected through a competitive online application process. Participants benefited from a rich curriculum delivered by a diverse faculty, including academic experts and NIH Program Officers, covering cutting-edge mobile health technologies, research methods, and implementation strategies.
This year’s program combined both virtual and in-person components, designed to enhance participants’ understanding and application of mDOT Center technologies within the broader mHealth research community. Evaluation measures were integrated throughout the program to assess immediate learning outcomes and track longer-term impacts, with insights informing planned refinements and potential expansion for future cohorts.
Feedback from participants highlighted the value of the training, with many reporting that the 2024 mHTI was “extremely worthwhile.” Scholars noted notable improvements in their recognition of mHealth research principles and in their confidence applying new methods in real-world research settings. The program continues to foster transdisciplinary collaboration and equip emerging researchers with the skills necessary to advance the field of digital health.
As a flagship initiative of the mDOT Center, mHTI remains instrumental in cultivating a perpetuating cadre of transdisciplinary researchers. By combining rigorous training, mentorship, and hands-on experience, the institute ensures that participants are well-prepared to leverage mobile health technologies to improve health outcomes, influence policy, and drive innovation in digital health research.
